Electricity Deregulation

Deregulation Outline

From March of 2000, the target customers of deregulation have been free to select their electricity supplier. This deregulation followed that of the aviation, communication and finance industries. One of the purposes was to introduce the principle of competition into the marketplace to lower the price of electricity. As the price of electricity in Japan was comparatively high on an international scale, this would help to restore international competitive capability.

Deregulation Merits

1. The customer can choose from a variety of services and price point plans.

2. The customer can enjoy the low electricity cost.
